Trust

Published by paulalife under Trust

After much soul searching, I have decided that I cannot change the names to protect the guilty because they would still recognize themselves!   Plus, think about it.  Just whose picture is on the top of this blog?  So, even though you will miss out on many hilarious and some serious stories, I feel that it is better to protect the client/hairdresser confidentiality clause.  No, there is not a real clause; it is simply a matter of trust.

Did you know that people will tell their hairdresser almost anything?  We hear stories about surgeries, (gross details), bathroom issues, illnesses, who is sleeping with who, who has gone on vacation to the “resort” (jail) and why, and why or why not they are guilty.  We hear everyone’s opinion on politics, including the other hairdressers.  Would you like to know why we hear these things?  It is because we touch people.  We physically touch people.   Think about it.  How many people are allowed legally to touch you in this world of germs and hand sanitizer.  They are your medical staff, your mortician, and licensed or certified people in the cosmetology industry:   i.e. hairdressers,  nail techs, masseuses, those who do electrolysis, and some makeup specialists.*    Over the years, I have learned to say “mmhmm” and “really?” while trying not to form a spoken opinion.   (Note I said spoken.)  Sometimes people need to talk.  Sometimes they need to hear you talk.  Sometimes they need advice.  I try to be very careful in that area.  Most of the time, they need to talk out a problem.  They need to sort it out in their own mind so that the pieces will fall into place for them.

People trust us because we touch them.  We hear their life stories, some sad, and some happy.  When asked, and sometimes without their knowledge, we pray with people and for people, and sometimes we even pray for their hair!
